After being greatly impacted by campus ministry as college students, Heather and Jason had the privilege of serving as campus missionaries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for ten years (2005–2015). What a joy that was! During that time they saw hundreds of students respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ and get trained as cultural missionaries to their generation.
In 2015, God began to give them a bigger vision to make a bigger impact . . . to take what they have seen God do at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and expand that to other campuses throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. There are over 1,000,000 college students within a short driving distance of Jason and Heather, and they feel like God has called them to serve Him in such a way that more and more of them can come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Now they continue their work as campus missionaries in the role of regional directors for the Mid-Atlantic region. Their passion is to strengthen their current chapters and mobilize students to start new gospel-focused works on more and more colleges in North Carolina, Virginia, and the Washington, DC area.
Caitlin serves at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC)—her hometown and alma mater! As a retired collegiate athlete and aspiring international missionary, her ministry includes reaching out to and discipling all kinds of students: from athletes to internationals as well as up-and-coming lawyers, doctors, and professors. There is a diverse, talented student body at UNC, and the students in her ministry are hungry for more of God and more of His kingdom on campus. Caitlin has a great passion to see the hearts of believers healed, to experience even deeper freedom in Christ, and is receiving further training to be a part of accomplishing that. She also loves to write (she studied reporting at UNC), and telling people’s stories—particularly God’s story—is one of her greatest joys.
Jared Green is currently serving as the campus director at George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College. Graduating from the University of Virginia in 2011, he began a career in the NFL as a wide receiver, playing with the Panthers, Cowboys, and Raiders. Jared played three years before retiring early to go into ministry full-time at Grace Covenant Church. Jared and his wife Joanna have two daughters, Alana and Bailey.
Pastor Jim Laffoon is an Elder at Bethel World Outreach Church in Brentwood. He and his wife, Cathy, now reside in Franklin, Tennessee. He spent three years serving in the US Army Paratroopers, then earned a degree in biblical theology from Grace College of Divinity. Since that time, he has served as a missionary, a senior pastor, and the Dean of Students at a bible college.
Devon Patterson is a campus missionary who graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Cultural Anthropology. After graduating college, he answered the call to ministry and attended Every Nation’s School of Ministry in the summer of 2015. Devon and his wife, Alyssa, live in Greenville, NC serving at ECU with a team that reaches out to over 28,000 students with the Gospel.
